With what’s left of our shredded hearts we post the news that our beloved Macleod crossed the bridge today at 12:35 pm.
There can and will be only one… Macleod. Here he was unique in every way, majestic and proud yet kind and loving. On the other side he’s sure to win the hearts of all who have the joy of meeting him. He runs, pain free again now, with Mya his best friend for the past 9 years. He put up a great fight , he rarely cried, and never lost his will to go on. He always wanted to go farther than we could let him. In the last few weeks we could see that the pain was catching up to him, he kept it quiet but we could begin to see in his face that he was hurting. Not wanting to see him go through this any longer and before a tragedy, like a fall in the middle of the night we made the mercy call. Our amazing and compassionate Veterinarian Dr. Judith Siegert and her assistant Wendy, came to the house today to send Macleod on his way. His last moments were calm and relaxed as all that pain drained away from his body. We spent the day chilling under the walnut tree eating BBQ steak and cookies & ice-cream. The sun was out and there was a nice breeze. Macleod didn’t ever really make a lot of noise but it sure seemed quiet around here this afternoon. We will miss you “Big Rig”
Rivers of tears and two broken hearts…………..
We lost our gentle giant
August the first day
Who fought a battle hard and strong
To have made it to this day
His kind and gentle temperament
Made you love him all that more
There could be no better feeling
Than him to meet you at the door
His crazy funny antics
As he ran around the place
He could actually say “I love you”
To put a smile upon your face
Handsome, kind and caring
That is just to name a few
The joy you brought to Dad and I
We hope we gave back to you
Your love just went forever
You left your paw print on our hearts
The deep bond we shared together
Means we will never ever part
Our garden once so beautiful
Feels like an empty space
The colours all have faded
Never being the same place
You are reunited now with “Mya”
We see the smile back on your face
The only joy we feel right now
Is your together at this place
But don’t forget the promise
That we made to both of you
We soon will be together
Hugging the both of you
So always check the gate our loves
And watch for Dad and I
As were climbing to the heavens
To wipe the tears upon your eyes……..
We shall love you both forever!!!!!!!

I am so very sorry for your loss, you’re right Macleod is gone far too soon. Your family has had too much loss this year and my heart hurts for you. I am so happy to know that Mya and Macleod had you as their wonderful, loving parents. They were loved and treasured and you gave them the very best lives. What lucky dogs to be loved like that. I can imagine that they were so happy to see each other again. I love the pictures of them snuggling, what beautiful dogs they are inside and out. Those puppy pictures are so precious and I love the pics of Macleod watching for the BBQ.
Please know that we are thinking of you and will be dreaming of your angels reunited again. We wish healing for your hurting hearts and hope that in time sharing more memories of Macleod and Mya will bring you peace.

I don’t know how to account for this, but somehow, yesterday, I suddenly was thinking of Macleod and was a bit apprehensive. I planned to look up your blog this morning to see how our handsome, gentle giant was doing. Must be the Malamute connection with Angel Pofi having had a healthy percentage of Mal in his genetic make up. I am so, so sorry his time with you on this earth has ended. I grieve for both your difficult losses, but I know he missed his Mya so and hope the image of them together again helps to soothe your hearts. Rest well, Macleod. You were the very best boy and your human parents love you so.

My heart goes out to you! I know your hearts broke again as you gave McLeod his wings out of your deep love for him. Your beautiful tribute to him brought many tears here. Know your two Warriors are now together again and telling all our Angels about their “best” life you gave them! Also know you have much healing light shining down on you from the heavens where the stars are but openings to heaven where Mya and McLeod can shine down on you until you see them again. Wrapping you in my thoughts and prayers and sending you healing light and love.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know first hand how hard it is to lose two dogs so close together. Like my Otis and Tess, you only know that they are together.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Macleod was such a lucky boy to be a part of your family. I know there is nothing that can be said to lessen your grief, but thank you for giving him such a wonderful life, and a peaceful passing.

Oh Terry and Alison, I’m so very, very,very sorry. I, along with everyone here, cry with you tonight. You’ve endured so much these past several months. And now we celebrate the handsome Macleod back to his Mya, and our hearts break with yiurs. Yes, they are, indeed, together and you WILL feel there presence with you!
Your “mercy” call came while Macleod could still be Macleod. As you know all too well, it was just a matter of time before the pain would take hold and rob him of any joy he had left. And based on his send off meal and the look of happiness on his face, he was still able to have joy as he readied to see his Mya again.
And your tribute poem…BEAUTIFUL, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! Every word was wrapped in love and so heartfelt. Just kike Mya, MacLeod was soooo privileged to jave you as his human all these years. No dogs could have been more loved and more cared for. You did EVERYTHING possible to give Macleod znd Mya the best life possible. And believe me, they are at the Bridge bragging like crazy ablut having the best time evvvver with you!!
I knkw your garden has a void in it now…but it’s temporary. Macleod will make his presence known…maybe a bird will perch near you, or a Butterfly will flitter so c@ose to you you can touch it. Pay attention. Let us know what sign they send you.
And I know this may seem weird and you probably don’t want to think about it now, but I think the two of them have plans to send you a dog who needs to be loved and to know what happiness feels like 🙂 Hmmmm……pay attention.

Terry and Allison, I just now had a chance to catch up on blogs and am heartbroken to know that Macleod got his wings. Please accept my deepest condolences.
He fought so hard like the warrior he grew up to become. Always protecting his family, looking out for the pack. It’s so hard to say goodbye to such loyalty. Although he is now in the spirit realm, I have no doubt that he will continue to stay by your side as a loving energy that guides your way in the world, until you all meet again some day.
Your tribute photos are just so sweet. The pictures speak volumes about the tight knit pack you have. I’m so sorry. Please know we are always here for you, and Macleod’s story will always be here to give hope to others as they embark on their own journey.
