Some time just after 12:00, one week ago today, I recieved the call that Mya was out of surgury and waking up from the anesthetic.
She’s come a long way in a week , I only keep the leash on her when she’s outside, just in case but she walks her self now. she is really good on her own now. Too good sometimes, and quick. Al and I were in the kitchen we heard a squeek, ” the door ” we both said and ran into the living room, Macleod had pulled the front door open and scooted out front, by the time I got there Mya was 2 stepps down the front stairs. It was raining pretty hard, wet and slippery and there were puddles all over, Macleod was already laying in one… I didnt want her getting all wet so I put her head on my sholder and cradled her chest and leg and spun her around and set her paw down on the top step and she hopped right back in the house. She is sleeping out on the deck right now , she thinks I left her alone for a change, to be indipendent, but I can see her sleeping there, through the tread of the stairs. she seems to like doing it on her own, gets all chatty if we molycoddle her too much, she’s a trooper.
I see from the picture she has been licking her shaved patch again , sneaky she is. She’s getting a peach fuzz growing back now so its probably getting itchy.
its raining out , he loves water, swiming, messing with the lawn sprinkler.
Mya is still sleeping but i hear some rustling better go a see what up…
I have a female Malamute 5.5 yrs, we think she has osteosarcoma of the front left leg. So your girl did well w amputation? New to the realization.

Just received an osteosarcoma diagnosis for my malamute girl Leiah, 5.5 yrs. Did your mal have cancer? Amputation is hard to think about, your girl looks to be doing well?

Hi leiamal,
Yes about 6 weeks ago our Girl Mya develiped a limp. started treating for arthritis but she got worse prompting a broader Xray that showed Osteosarcoma in the sholder of her right front leg. today is the one week ampiversary , surgury was last Tuesday. This was by far the hardest choise we have ever had to , hope will ever have to make. Not gonna lie its going to be rough. But we have passed through it so far with flying colors. Mostly pink tho, its a girl thing… look at some of the posts here and the videos, that eased our decision making. At the begining of June this year we had no idea this even existed. Mya and Macleod ran passed me one day and knocked me on my ass, like a freight train. It came on so fast, now we are, here paws deep, and its made all the diffrence in the world. talking to people who “get it” really helps us get through the rough spots. Talk with your vet about all the options available, and do what is best for you and your girl Leiah. There are lots of really good people here with lots of really good stories and information to help you through this.
Keep us posted or your progress.
hugs and waggs your way.
